LearnVille

This site was built using the WordPress Learning Management System and WooCommerce to promote and sell online ESL courses. I picked up this site after a few other developers had also worked on it – so while the initial setup had been done, customizations to the site and store were still needed to create a final polished product. As the system is quite complex, part of my work also included creating instructional videos to help my client maintain the site independently.

In this project, I added WordPress functionality and responsive features to an existing static site, created by Corbin Jensen Digital. Upgrading the site to WordPress allows the client to easily manage content themselves – here, the list of services provided, contact information and page content can be modified in few clicks – with no prior knowledge of code.

In this project, I added WordPress functionality to an existing static site, in partnership with Corbin Jensen Digital. While a site using WordPress may look no different from a static site, it offers the user the ability to easily manage content themselves, without requiring any knowledge of coding.  Here, WordPress functionality creates a site that dynamically generates a front page showcasing featured news from the blog, a live shows page and image gallery to better promote Gavin’s work.

A web app that returns paintings based on the weather

ART//WEATHER

This is a web app which returns a painting with the same weather conditions as the city queried.  Currently, images are being pulled from the Brooklyn Museum, whose thorough online archive categories (which included weather conditions) inspired the idea for the app. It was created using JavaScript, jQuery and the wunderground API.

Mock Client Project

This site was created from static .pdf files in a mock client-developer scenario in class. Challenges included creating responsive images, working with image sprites and planning the design to work well at all screen sizes. Resize the browser to see how the site responds.
